Atlanta - A Dangerous, but Exciting Place to play Poker

2014-04-04 02:28 by Olsdog

When it comes to the world's biggest poker destinations, places like Macau, London, Vegas and Los Angeles often come to mind. Atlanta...well, no so much. However, some people will be surprised to know that Atlanta actually features a pretty strong poker scene - it's just underground.

PokerTube recently had an opportunity to check out Atlanta's poker world, which is said to include everything from country club games to "back alley" games. The latter is what PokerTube focuses on during a 10-minute feature on how interesting and dangerous Atlanta's poker scene can be.

Those who thought that the Wild West days of poker were dead are sorely mistaken; they've simply moved to Atlanta. Several players discuss this matter as they talk about everything from a game being robbed of $85,000 to a person getting pistol whipped during a robbery.

Of course, the risk can be worth the effort, especially with how entertaining some of these players are. There's 'Little Ricky,' the fast-talking, energy drink entrepreneur who loves to shout "Let's get to the money." There's also Shannon, a.k.a. 'The Mouth,' who seems to be the Dirty South version of Mike Matusow.

As some of the players describe, you'll also find lawyers, jewelers, rappers, actors and pro athletes playing in the underground Atlanta poker games. You can check out the PokerTube video here.
