Black Friday Defendant Brent Beckley gets 14 months in Prison
2012-07-24 04:09 by Olsdog
Absolute Poker co-founder and Black Friday figurehead Brent Beckley was recently handed a 14-month prison sentence for charges that included bank fraud and money laundering.
While standing trial at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Beckley never tried to deny that he helped Absolute Poker disguise poker transactions for customers in order to fool banks. He was quoted as saying, "I fooled myself into thinking that what I was doing was OK."

Some people were surprised at the 14-month sentence that Beckley received because he was very cooperative with prosecutors. However, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan did feel that some prison time was necessary "to make clear that the government of the United States means business in these types of cases."
Considering how Brent Beckley will be spending 14 months in a federal penitentiary, you have to wonder how much time Ray Bitar will be facing. After all, Bitar was hiding out in Ireland until a few weeks ago, and he doesn't seem overly-remorseful about the Full Tilt Poker situation.
